Default VAFC'S

hey guys, i have just about what everyone else has (i/e). i install a/c's for a living. now i've prolly read a large books worth about these and am more confused than when i started javascript:emoticon('')
smilie i read about lowering the vtec engagement point and am wondering how this works? does it affect the motor i.e. more wear and tear? what are some different controllers? Do you have to hook it up to a computer? Are there plug and play models? are there alternatives like reflashing? how far can i get wrapped up in something like this? i read that you should change it to real low and do a dyno and then change it again to real high and do a dyno and then these will help you pick where to put it. well how much is a dyno and where? some of us out here are barely making the payments and selling body parts to buy the goodies. please set me straight with these controllers javascript:emoticon('')

A vafc can really help an '00 car. The early cars ran very rich.

You can get a wiring harness that is plug-n-play (boomslang or Frog harness).

The important part is the tuning. A vafc is only as good as its tuner. Post in your local s2ki forum to get a recommendation of a good tuner in your area.

A lower vtec engagement is a mixed blessing. It will smooth the power curve dramatically. And boost hp/tq at mid-range. However, the downside is that the car will be on the edge of vtec in sixth gear at a much lower speed. Depending on how fast you cruise, this can be really irritating.
