Default Valve adjustment

I was told that to do a valve adjustment the engine has to be cold or the readings nay be off and then they might set them to tight. Just wondering if this is true?

On my old motor I did one like 3 or 4 hours after I drove it at full operating temperature, and its all fine. I would just let it sit like that for a while, that way you can actually touch your engine without it being hot.

Dead cold would be best. just park it where you plan to do the adjustment.

I've done several. Cool to the touch is fine. Metal does not contract any more than what it will have already by then. (unless in freezing temps of coarse) I put a fan on mine once the valve cover was removed and they were cool to the touch within an hour. Car runs Dreamy

Cool to the touch is just fine, when we did ours we had the cars sitting for an hour prior to start.
