valve adjustment or TCT
so my S has about 120k miles and was told i may need a vavle adjustment. did a little research and came to find out it may also be the TCT. does anyone know if its easy to do? im pretty handy so if its not to hard ill try to knock them both out my self.
Probably worth uploading a video/audio clip. From what I understand those two things make pretty distinctive noises & someone here may be able to identify right away.
Ya need to do them both:
Valve adjustment should be done. Easy albeit tedious as there are a lot of them. $10 Honda valve adjustment tool is a godsend. You need bent feeler gauges. If you try to bend yours they break like glass. You need a complete gasket set too. Since the plugs have to come out to rotate the engine spend the $40 and do those too. Engine must be cold (under 100°F).
The TCT is probably the easiest "major" job you can do. Get Billman's GenX unit. Need a 10mm ratchet spanner, an Allen wrench, and needle nose pliers. Plan on spending 15 minutes. I was still in "business casual" less tie when I did mine, it's that easy and no mess if you have a paper towel.
