I also like to spend the time to get them all evenly set, to me that is how the engine should operate. I don't recommend having the dealer do the job as all they do is make sure none of the clearances are "out of spec", they don't spend the time to set them evenly.

Just concentrate on getting slight drag on the proper sized feeler gauge, don't worry about the go-no-go method. If you have slight drag on the proper sized feeler after fully tightened then you got it right.

Best advice I can give noobies is to, go back into the engine 2 weeks after your first adjustment and double check all of your settings. You will get a better idea of how well you did by doing that, and you will have a clearer mind at that time. You always get better the more times you do the adjustments, you will develop the proper feel after doing the job a few times.
