Default Valve adjustments?

I've been dealing with the irritating misfire code (1399) for all cylinders off and on for about 2 years now. Last year I had the valves adjusted, the computer reset and all was good. The CEL has recently appeared again (same code). I replaced the coil packs but the problem persists...

I did a track day about two months ago so I guess my question is; can sustained hard (track) driving accelerate the need for a valve adjustment? My next plan of action is to replace the fuel injectors to see if that helps, but if a valve adjustment is all that is required after each track day or two, I'm ok with that.

BTW the car runs fine with no obvious symptoms.

Thanks!

you definitely don't need a valve adjustment after a couple track days.

Have you done a compression test?

I had that same CEL code, plus 1301, 1302, 1303, 1304...and I had a few burnt valves...

Yeah if you did one last year it doesnt need it done again for a while, even if you track it. I agree with FearlessFife, have you done a compression test yet? If something comes up weird in that, just get a leak down test done and you can find where the problem is.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, Honda has done a compression test each time the code has come up and it has always been fine. I guess I'll try the injectors and see what comes up. I guess the upside is I now have a spare set of coils...

Will keep you posted.

I would leak down test it to see if you have bent valves. Which would explain the misfire code.

have you ever had an over-rev ?. Common sources of misfire cel's are spark plugs, coils, injectors, MAP sensor, bent valves.

Never had an over-rev and I had a leak down and compression test done the last time the code came up. I had the valves adjusted and it went away for a few months. Now it's back...

If you have not replaced the spark plugs, do that, no matter how good they may look.
