i just did a valve adjustment...you simply remove the hoses at their clamps....remove the hex screws and then the coil packs then the bolts, then the two cam sensors....that's it...the gasket kit includes a valve cover gasket and the rubber backed new seals if you need them. i did not need a new gasket.

I did this a few months ago and the cover hadn't been off the car ever. (60k miles). I posted that I was having trouble with it and Billman said pull the rubber grommets off of where the hex bolts go through. Cover came right off after I did that. Before it wouldn't budge more than a mm or two. I also didn't need a new cover gasket but bought one just incase.

It's not hard at all man.

- Remove bolts from spark plug cover and take it off.

- Take out the bolts that are holding the coil packs in (1 on each coil)

- Pull up on the coilpack and remove electrical clips from them, then remove coil packs.

- Disconnect sensor on the back of the valve cover

- Remove bigger hose coming from intake to the valve cover

- Loosen all of the bolts to the actual valve cover (Should be 4 main ones)

- Once those are off, use a flat head screwdriver to pull up on the edges since it might be on there pretty good. Once you got it up a little bit you should be able to wiggle it around, and pull it strait up. You will kind of have to remove it at an angle since the back of it will hit (you will see what i'm talking about when you do it) just work with it and it will come off fairly easy.

Also I have removed my valve cover several times and havent replaced any of the seals or anything, I havent had any problems either. So you should be fine.

I just did it Saturday.

4 hex bolts, 4 coil pack bolts, 5 bolts for the valve cover. All 10mm I think too, except the H5 hex bolts.

Protip: on the 5 bolts for the valve cover, make sure you take off the metal washers and the rubber gaskets. Those can fall off pretty easily, and easily into the wrong place.

Make sure you inspect your retainers and keepers, too. If the keepers are retreating into the retainers, you have an imminent disaster coming soon!

The cover itself is a bit to take off. I shoved a wrapped screwdriver into the front-passenger side (where the joint is thickest) and pulled up from the oil fill hole too. It took some wrestling but it came off. There's a hose at the back running right over the cover...I undid a 10mm bolt to allow that hose to shift back, then the cover came off straight up.
