Hi I purchased my 2005 s2k a little under a year ago and it currently has around 155k miles. My rear brakes was making a sound so I took it to a shop to get it changed. The shop owner called me and stated my car drives pretty rough and recommended a compression test and cylinder leak down test. Results were:
#1: 5%
#2: 40%
#3: 6%
#4: 12%
He recommended a valve job with estimated cost being around 3k. Im located in SoCal.
Never had a check engine light and while I never noticed the car driving rough but I guess I dont know what another s2k drives like.
Any recommendations? How does that price sound?

Number 2 looks terrible. Hit up Rockstar Garage and see how much they quote you. You'd want a really knowledgeable, well known S2K-centric shop to do that for you.

Oh did you check and adjust the valve clearance first? Very important before compression/leakdown tests.

 

$3k for valve job means valve adjustment or a complete removal/cleaning/adjustment of the valves? If it's just for a valve adjustment only I can tell you that's the daily thieves' special introductory price for those born yesterday.
