Default Valve Tolerance Issue

Hey guys,

2003 s2k, about 35k miles ago I had the cylinder head off the car to have valves replaced due to a money shift. Rebult at a reputable machine shop using oem components.

Ever since then I've had my valve clearances tighten up requiring a valve adjustment. This happens far more often than it should.

Why is this happening? Valves wearing into the head? Valves stretching? Should I pull the head back off to investigate?

Yes. The machine shop didn't know what they were doing and the valves are wearing into the head/seats. No choice but to pull the head again for a proper rebuild. You don't want to leave it much longer that's for sure.

Since it may be wearing into the head, would it even be worth it to try and rebuild this one? Possibly a better idea to look for a good used one?

Luckily the seats can be replaced, so it's not a huge deal, the person that responded to your original post can actually fix it right.
