Default Valvoline 5w30 synpower put in today!

I went to a local trustworthy garage today to get my oil changed and this is what they used. Cost me $56.00 as well. Shouldnt they be using 10w30? Also, I can go 5,000 miles until I need it changed again correct? Any help would be great.

I would have used 10W-30, especially since it is summer, but 5W-30 is okay. If you don't track your car, then 5-6K miles will be okay too. Just make sure you check the oil level often. You probably got a crappy filter with it, which might not be good for extended drain internals. You may want to change the filter after 3K, then top the oil back off again.

Well, next time I will have them use 10w30, the filter that they put on there is blue, and has some small chinese writing on it. that is the honda filter correct?

I think the new honda PCX filter is made in Japan, not China. The new Honda PCX filter is made purposefully for the S2000.

10w30 at least. 5w30 is acceptable for this fill, since you used a quality synthetic. But it does not offer the hi-temp viscsosity of a 10w30, although very close. as the others have said, check your level often, and if you need to add "makeup oil", use 10w30.

Thanks for the help! You would think that these honda specialization shops would know what oil to put in certain cars! I hope they changed my filter, they charged me for it, but I hope they actually changed it. I dont think that they have many S2000's come through there, mostly civics, accords, etc. After hearing dealership horror stories, I decided to try these guys. I'll have to keep an eye on them from now on.

By the way, I change the tranny fluid, and diff. fluid myself, but havent tried to change the engine oil myself. Compared to the diff., and tranny, how difficult is the engine oil change?

The engine oil is easier to change than the tranny or diff.
