Default Vibrating close to idle --misfire?

Hi all,

I have a MY 2002 and here's the problem: when pulling off I tap the gas and rev the car up to say 1800 RPM and if for some reason I have to let it drop back down to idle (the guy in front of me doesn't move) at around 1300-1100 RPM the car vibrates. Is this a misfire? How can I check? Does it have anything to do with the new Spark Plug TSB that everyone is talking about? I have to go into the dealer for the the 3500 checkup, any advice on what I should say?

Oh I have also tried this with super Gas from different gas stations. I don't think I fully realized it but this might have been happening for about a month now.

Thanks for your help,
T

Doubtful- I think it's a "feature" that all S2k's have. I think it's a function of an ultra-stiff chassis, stiff mounts, a balance shaft-less motor, and a motor tuned for clean emissions.

I have noticed just about the same prob, because my job on a more or less daily basis i spend 1-4 hours per day siting in it waiting. If i rev to 2k hold it there for sec and then do one of 2 things, 1) completely let off gas it will drop below 750rpm and kinda vibrate/shudder then it will come back up to 900rpm or if I 2) slowly let rpm down to 1k and then let off gas it will do the same small vibrate/shudder, and it is more noticible the the AC on. No idea why, but if it is just a few of us with this prob i hope it is nothing serious. Any coments plz email me at steve_s2000@hotmail.com

I had it a few times in the past when both the car and the ambient temps were hot. I don't remember an incident since I added the radiator mat.

I wish I could say the same. Even with the radiator mat, I've begun to frequently encounter the stumbling idle issue. It occurs mostly during these hot summer days in stop-n-go traffic, or after letting the engine get heat soaked during a store visit.

I've heard Kibro mention that these events are a thing of the past since he's installed the Comptech CAI.

I think the shudder may be from an incipient stall/misfire where the pistons start rattling around in the cylinder. On a few occasions mine has failed to recover for several hours, during which time I have to manually maintain idle to keep it from dying. Then, it magically cures itself.

Turn off the A/C and see if it goes away; it did for me...

I dont know but I do know that I have a 2000 s2000 and everytime when I get the car to about 4000 or 5000 rpm it begins to jerk and misfire. The dealership said that there is a recall on the spark plug housing. So if you have this problem I say take your car in asap.
