Default Voltage flucuation

When at low RPMs my voltage is between 12.4 and 12.6 (3kish)

above that it spikes to 14 to 14.2 Is this normal?

I know that the voltage levels are within a normal scale but is the flucuation normal?

I also had a 40 mile jump in fuel economy since my last fill up. The car Vtecs fine and the power is definitely still there. It advances timing to 40ish degrees and pulls hard to redline. I have made NO changes to the car since the last fill up and always use either shell or exxon premium. Any ideas as to why I went from 200miles before the light came on to having 240 miles on the tank and still no light?

(I will run it till the light comes on to get a better idea.)

TIA

alternators put out DC volts to the battery. the battery by itself shoudl read 12.4-6 volts, anything lower and its bad. that voltage spike is prob from the surface charge in the battery cells.

my HU reads voltage, I wouldnt waste a gauge spot for a voltmeter. Was just curious. Seems as though its in normal range then

I also today got 250 Miles on 10.7 Gallons vs my usual 210 on 10 gallons. This has been my norm since ive owned the car over a year. All of sudden it seemed to have jumped 2MPGish

so some of you guys have gauges that show battery voltage? just seems odd .. but best way to get real results would be a DMM
