Default Vortech Fuel pumps? Not sucking all the gas!!!!

I have a Vortech SC kit installed. I was driving it the other day and it ran out of gas with TWO bars left on the gas gauge???? Would it be more likly the pump was instaled wrong? Or the sending unit or the cluster??? I just got the car first tank of gas , and wham. (the kit was on the car when i got it)

Please any help would be great before I bring it back to the Honda where the kit was Installed. Thanks

It's more likely that the fuel filter is interfering with the float arm and your tank really is empty but your gauge not showing it.

There has been some discussion about the filter that comes with the Vortech being too big and the soltuoin being to either twist it or use the original filter.

Pulling the pump/filter/float assembly is a PIA. I'd probably live with it for a while until it's due for a new filter. It'll teach you to keep the tank a quarter full (or provide that much needed exercise ).

AusS2000 is most likely right on.
Not all installers will analyze how the fuel level sender float moves and won't bother to alter the orientation of the larger filter bag.
Unless you want to get this fixed. I'd suggest that everytime you fuel up, reset your trip odo and use it in conjunction with what the gauge tells you to let you know that you are close to empty.

So its becasue of the gas filter. NOT letting the sender float all the way to the bottom? If it was Installed at honda they would fix it right. How many liters does the S2000 hold. I will wait till its almost empty. (2nd bar) fill it to the top. TO see if it the pump not sucking all the gas out or the filter messing up the reading.

I can't remember off the top of my head how much fuel our tanks hold. But the owner's manual has it listed.

you are not the first one to have this problem
a lot of people had this before....it's annoying, unsafe and don't put up with it.....bring it back to your installer. Some pple got away with twisting the vortech fuel filter. Some others, like myself, had no luck with this and used the oem one.

xviper did you end up using the vortech filter or the oem?

actually if your installer give you some BS excuse
tell them to read the instruction given by Vortech. If I remember correcly, the instruction clearly says to test the fuel level floaty before reassembly.

Aus hit it right on the head..it's the fuel sock catching in the tank float. Common install problem and hard to tell if it happens. Your installer will fix it quick.
