Default Vortech SC Wiring Question.

i just finished installing the electrical parts of the vortech sc today, but i found that three wires coming from the timing control box were not mentioned in the manual. the yellow, yellow/green, and yellow/black were the colors i didnt use.

do those three wires actually connect somewhere but not mentioned in my vesion of the manual OR are they really not used?

Thanks!

MIke

All the wires coming out of the timing unit should be used. I wired my own timing unit and all the wires coming out of it was used according to the manual. You might want to download the latest manual from Vortech's website.

If you won't wire those wires up, your car will not start or you will get a CEL when it fires up.

Thanks... i will look at the downloadable manual. maybe my timing unit came with more wires than its supposed to. did you have yellow/blk, yellow/grn, and yellow wire coming out of your timing box?

S2k, i followed steps 13. A-U both on my manual and the downloadable version and it did not mention the three wires i mentioned. But when i took a closer look at the diagram the three wires were in fact there. so i guess that is how you figured yours out? or maybe your step 13 is more descriptive than mine.

Thanks for the help though.

ok here we go :-) start by going to page 32 that is the 13. electronic cntrol box installation cont'd once you get there you will see the map controllor and the timing box and lot of wires comming out of it and three wire harness's 25 p 31P and last 32p now go to the 32p last one on the page all the way to the right its a blue wire and it is kinda in the middle so your going to have to hold the sheet up to the connector and count over the lines have no wire once you find it tap the yellow/black wire into it with the connector that comes in wiht the kit then you should be done if there is more wires comming from the box you got the wrong box how to tell. the back box shoud have one vac line out of one side and on the other side it should have i beleve its 6 wires out of the oter side (my box was wrong it had thewires and the vac comming out of the same side) i really hope this helps you out if you have any more questions feel free to email me tonight and i will get back to you asap i will be up for a wile hope this helps jason kasten s2000coupe@aol.com

Mike,

How long did it take for your SC install? I just read a post indicating 2 - 3 days (at 8hrs per day) with 2 to 3 people. I am contemplating doing the install myself, and was just curious.

Also, does the install require more than one person, or were you able to complete yourself?

Thanks, Al
