Default VSA help

hey all,
1st of all thanks in advance, i need ur opinion guys. yesterday night i did some alignment changes( i just change the toe) on my s2k 07 on my vsa warning light turned on after driving for about five minutes of testdrive.

at first, while im driving the triangle blinks at about 4-5krpms and then goes away, then after about five minutes the VSA and the little triangle logo turned and stayed on. the car runs very good and strong, and i honestly dont feel any changes except for the annoying vsa light on.

i drove it this morning to see if the vsa light wil go away but it didnt, so i thought i ask. i just did a reset and i waited an hour before i reset the battery-->still on.

when i did some alignmnet changes (Toe only) on my car, the steering wheel isnt on the center.. i mean if i put the wheels and tires straight and parallel from one another, my steering wheel is not aligned correctly, it is turned to the right a lot. i drove the car like this yesterday night and i like how it handles after i change the toe but the vsa light turned on, could this be the reason why it turned on? could an improper toe and a misaligned steering wheel cause the vsa to turn on?

also, two weeks ago, i painted my brake caliper, but i didnt remove it, i just tape the surrounding parts to protect from over spray. could this also be the cause and two weeks after the vsa turned on? maybe a little over spray in some sensor trigger the light to turn on.

i want to avoid to take it to the dealer because i did a lot of aftermarket changes to my car already. and i have coilovers, I/H/E/tP, act clutch and flywheel, 4.44FG,etc...i wanna try to solve this on my own with out taking it to the dealer.

pls help. also, i did change my pads too with the hawk ceramic pads 2 weeks ago wen i painted the calipers.

also some more concern:

would the VSA cause more or any other problems (damage abs, speed sensor, etc.)to my car if i dont fix this vsa light on, coz the car runs very good, and i turn off the vsa all the time anyway when i drive it.

is there any site or something that i could go to to learn on how the VSA work on the s2000 cause the manual only talks about the function but nothing on how to diagnose problems about vsa light turned on and then fix it. hope there is something out there i can go and research about this.

again thanks so much..and i apologize for the long story...have a nice day

The steering wheel not being aligned has no effect on anything at all other than annoying the crap out of you. Usually a good shop will align the wheel after the alignment is done.

The VSA has a few sensors so maybe they damaged one of them. If the triangle comes on and then goes away, it means the VSA has activated. If it stays on, it means you disabled it. Painting over it would definitely cause this issue.

I would go to the dealer and have them diagnose it. It's tough without a CEL code.

How did you measure the toe to adjust it?

If you've got aftermarket coilovers chances are you broke a wheel speed sensor. You'll need to take it to a dealer to get the VSA code.

i had the coilover a few months ago. the day i got the car i lowered it with the coilover. the only thing i did to the car recently was paint the calipers and change the brakes pads and then i change the toe on my car.

its running well even with the vsa light on. i dont want to take to dealer coz i did many mods (I/H/E/Tp, 4.44Fg, act cutch and flywheel, sway bars, etc.), i would like to tke care of it myself first if i can...

my guess is that the over spray might have something to do with it..but im not sure.. im at work right now so ill try to check for some over spray of paint and ill do it when i get home later.

i adjust the toe, with the 19 mm wrench (i think) to loosen and then i turn the front toe link (tie rod end) with my 14mm(i think). i also have a fastraxx alignment tool/kit.

not sure how much this would help but here is a diagram of where the sensors are, and some fuse box to check for sme blown fuse... hope this help

you mentioned that your steering wheel is off center because to change your toe or aligment settings, there is a steering angle sensor. please someone correct me if im wrong, would the miscentered steering wheel trigger the vsa indicator and activator light turn on?

the way i see this is your problem.VSA function is lost: VSA indicator and VSA activation indicator turn on. but i dont know what caused it.

good luck.

This system has four indicators: ABS indicator (A), VSA indicator (B), VSA activation indicator

When ABS function is lost: ABS indicator, VSA indicator, and VSA activation indicator turn on.
When VSA function is lost: VSA indicator and VSA activation indicator turn on.
When all functions are lost: All four indicators turn on.
ABS/VSA Indicator

the light thats on for the guage cluster is the VSA indicator and VSA activation indicator turned on.
