Vsi Problem
Hi,
I only had my s2000 for 3 weeks but Iv got a problem with the Vsi and engine management light coming on,The problem started when I checked the oil, when I started the engine the Vsi and engine management light came on and stayed on.When I lifted the bonnet the map sensor plug had come off,I re-attached the plug but Vsi and management lights stayed on.So I removed the battery earth lead for 10-15 mins and that seemed to do the trick. Iv since run the car for a week with no problems untill I started to use some hard ecceleration and at around 4000 rpm the same lights came on and the car started to hold back and hesitate,so I didnt try to rev it any harder.I got home removed the earth lead and it cleared but the same problem occured when I tried to accelerate hard again. If I reset it and take my time its as if there is no fault it only comes to light when accelerating hard.Switching of the ignition dosent clear it.Any ideas?

This thread is fraught with issues:
1. Do you mean VSA?
2. How did you manage to unplug the map sensor when opening the hood? (That may be a sign that you don't belong under the hood)
3. You seem to be more concerned about the CEL than the actual problem. If that is the case, electrical tape will solve your problems.
4. Why exactly are you trying to clear the troubleshooting codes? Don't you want to troubleshoot the problem?
5. Why are here instead of at the dealership?

Thanks for the replys I work away from home all week so I can only get to the dealer on saterday, this happened yesterday. There is no need to be rude as regards to being under the hood,Iv built 3 bikes 1 aeroplane and 1 car from scratch,I do intend to take it to the dealer when I get chance.

We had a similar code/issue shown when a mouse ate a wire on the intake manifold on our RL about 1 year ago.
Car started showing some really strange codes but ran perfectly. Dealer said they see it now and again. $4 wire. New one has 'a pepper coating' so mice aren't so excited to chew it.
FYI - he's right. No attitude required. Giving him info will help him from getting screwed by a dealer who says 'this isn't a warranty' issue.
