Are you sure the car is at operating temp before you tried floorboarding it?

Gotta have 3 bars on the temp gauge before you get VTEC.

you also need sufficient oil pressure.

also, does it rev beyond 6K? Just because it doesn't "kick" doesn't mean vtec doesn't work. If that were the case you'd have a CEL.

yes the engine is with 3 bars before i would consider flooring it, and it does rev past 6k, just dont feel the extra boost ever since the alarm was installed. i regret getting an alarm didnt think it would affect the engine, the car doesnt feel the same to me anymore!

An alarm should not affect your vtec, check your oil level.

Oil level is always first. It should be anyway, everytime you fill up.

There are people who claim to have lost vtec, only to realize they were just used to it.

To date, the thing I've found to affect it most is the AIR FILTER. I've found this on about 7 s2k's.

I'll take a car for an initial test drive. I find vtec is there at 6k, but nowhere near the kick of my car. I'll open the airbox and sure enough it's original, and black as hell. Replace it, AND reset the ecu. The car is instantly back to business.
