vtec bogging

Default vtec bogging

Hi guys, i was in a rush this morning and jumped in my car to rush to work. i usually warm up my car but since i was in a rush i didnt. while i was driving i hit vtec and it "bogged" a bit. is that normal? it onlyhappened once. my car only has 2000 miles on it. Thanks

This is one of those questions that really annoys the Veterans on the Forums.
1. Read the Owners Manual
2. Read the FAQ's before posting
3.It's totally normal, it is a safety feature to prevent you from damaging your engine before it's warmed up to operating temp.

yeah. very commonly asked question. and it is covered in the forum FAQs. which, by the way, EVERYONE should read, even if they don't actually have a question. you'd be AMAZED how much you'll learn about your car.

that said, if the car is not up to operating temp, a premature rev limiter will prevent you from doing any damage. why you'd try to redline a car to 9000 that isn't properly warmed up is beyond me. lol
