VTEC Crossover
Hi all, I noticed just last week when I started my S2K in the morning that when I tried to crossover to vtec some sort of rev limiter kicked in at 6000 RPM. Ive realised that my car temp has to be at least 2 bars for the vtec to kick in. Is this just an isolated case or does this happen to all S2000s, Any info given on why this happens would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

If it's cold it won't vtec, it's a bit like hitting a brick wall, rather sudden.

Are you serious?
Surely some common sense in you tells you not to rev the thing when the engine is stone cold?!

its a rev limiter set by Honda to not allow the engine to use high rev's until the engine and oil is warm.
i have only used it once and came across it when trying to race a workmate home one evening and i completely agree to the hitting a brick wall statement,

It's related to oil pressure AND temperature IIRC. If either is too low then it won't engage VTEC. And as above, you shouldn't be near VTEC if the engine is cold. Mine never goes above 3.5k to 4k ( and very gently up to that) at the very most until the engine is properly warmed up.
