Default VTEC issue

Thought I had this solved but had an issue this am after a full day running fine at SCCA Starting Line School.

[img alt="This scenario was closest I could fine to mine. Hope I don’t have a problem with rocker arms. Seems odd to me.

Could valve lash cause a poor performing VTEC zone?

Link doesn't work

One thing to check is the screen of the VTEC solenoid gasket. It needs to be clean and not impeding flow.

And is the engine oil pressure staying at spec during full throttle?

Does the engine have healthy compression?

Low oil pressure indicator is all the "instrumentation" there is. It's pretty obvious when it flashes on.

thanks. VTEC assembly was rebuilt with new gaskets and a new screen last year. I was chasing down an oil leak.

could my K&N filter be causing my intake sensor to get dirty?

185 across the board. No drops in pressure that I can tell. No warning or indication.

right, no flashes.

I could hook up a mechanical gauge to check but I don’t think that’s it.

i’m thinking it air/fuel related.

These cars were designed for dry air filters, not K&N filters dripping with oil. Cleaning the intake and sensors may help as would a dry filter.

This one is a direct replacement for the K&N, can be cleaned and washed, and uses no oil:
