The car only goes into VTEC under a range of conditions. Yes the car must me warmed up, but you also must be at pretty much WOT (whole open throttle) to engage VTEC. There are others to but I expect they are all to do with engine safety.

Yes, percentage of throttle is important. If you're at partial throttle, it most likely will not engage. Must be a certain percentage, along with oil pressure, oil level, water temp, dirty solenoid, etc.

Sounds like either not warmed up or not full throttle.

How do you know your oil pressure is ok? did you check it with a gauge? I'm learning more and more no VTEC = major bearing damage and the engine doesnt have the psi to lock the rockers.

Number one causes are dirty air filter and bad MAP sensor.

make sure you carpet is not stuck up behind the gas pedal too

i dont move the car untill it is fully warmed up so i know that isent the issue and about 2 weeks ago i found out about how to engage it with full throtle, i usually put the pedal to the floor at about 5000rpm, but even then the car still wont engage, for example i raced a friend of mine that has a cadillac devill, we did a 40 roll witch puts me at like 5200 rpm we beeped took of and getting to 6500rpm the vtec still hadent engaged i styaed racing i beat him but only by a bumper, my oil was fine the next morning everything seemed fine, its not the only time during a race or even for a cruse that it dosent engage, also im not one of those people that pop vtec every 5 minutes so there isent much abuse on the motor, i do have 112,xxx miles but its mostly highways miles, ive been looking at ways to clean the solenoid to see if there is a difference

Modern cars are not best warmed up at idle. Drive it normally until it warms up.

nah the carpet is fine lol but the car dose have stumble problems at red lights sometimes so im gonna try the map whack mod to see if it helps with the car, im also gonna clean the throttle body and other parts of the intake to take out any carbon build up cause those are common problmes
