Vtec Not Working

Default Vtec Not Working

I have a 03 and when i get on it in first gear my vtec wont kick in or if it does it doesnt kick in till like 8k then when i shift into second it feels like my vtec will kick on and off and kind of studder through the gear. What is going on???Thanks to everyone for reading this...

The reason thet are telling you to check the oil level is becuase the vtec wont work if the oil pressure is not high enough. Also is the car warmed up enough?

The oil level is a good place to start.

Any mods to your car?? Piggy-back ems?? is the oil changed on a regular basis? Have you had the head removed recently?

Is your "maint req" light on? I am not talking about the CEL, but rather the maintenance required reminder. If this light is on, it needs to be reset or Vtec will not engage.

Listen, one time, another owner couldn't engage Vtec. According to him, the maintenance light had been on for a few thousand miles. He checked the usual suspects like oil and the solenoid and nothing worked. When we reset his light, he had Vtec.

It's something for the guy to check to see if he can get Vtec back. Take your flags and shove em'.
