VTEC problems!

VTEC problems!
Besides being low on oil or not having atleast 3 bars for warm up, what can cause VTEC to not always work? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt when I hit 6K!

What's WOT in lamens terms? I never undertood that. But I do know when VTEC doesnt kick in, my car feels the same after 6K, as in I feel no extra boost in power or hear the VTEC kick in! The rpms just go high with no power like in a regular car w/o VTEC. Also, if in case I am in 100% WOT and my VTEC doesnt work, what kind of problem are we talking about? And what could have caused all this?
Just for clarification - are you saying the RPMs go up but the car doesn't accelerate or that you don't feel the "kick"?

One not yet mentioned is fuel. If you are at or below 2 bars of fuel it can have an effect.
I had a friend that had some problems a wile back, so I took apart the vtec solenoid and cleaned it. reinstalled it and it has been working ever since.
Are you getting a CEL?
