I've had a few customers that had no VTEC at all.

Dirty air filter.

Checking oil is a great idea too.

I'm assuming you are letting the car fully warm up before this is happening right? That's the number 1 noob mistake!

Make sure its warm otherwise it will feel like your hitting an electric rev limiter
