I've had a few customers that had no VTEC at all.

Dirty air filter.

Checking oil is a great idea too.

 

I'm assuming you are letting the car fully warm up before this is happening right? That's the number 1 noob mistake!

 

I was going to leave this alone but being that you insist on making a point out of it.
'V-TEC is was is in our engines." flame on you, what does that mean? You should watch what you say if your going to correct someone.

 

Make sure its warm otherwise it will feel like your hitting an electric rev limiter
