Default VTEC recently Lagging, Studdering...AP1

Hey guys, any help is appreciated and I thank you in advance.....

Recently my '00 AP1 has been running weird, this is my second S2K and this has never happened...

After full warmup, any time above 6,200 RPM (VTEC engagement) it starts to studder... like in and out power if you can see what i'm saying.

The car only has 43,000 original miles. Pretty fresh. Oil level is fine, air filter is new. The car runs solid and smooth when full throttle, until VTEC engages, then like I mentioned, it starts to slug and studder as it progresses higher && can't seem to see the problem, I read a few things about maybe it being the VTEC solenoid but I couldnt imagine that being the case with a 43,000 mile car...!! Ugh! This has only started happening in the last few days.

Thanks for anything guys! Laters.

Thanks for your feedback, It's only been doing it for a couple days (So the last 100 miles?) Always put 91 in, I will check the spark plugs today -- Also I found the dipstick kind of smells like fuel .... Unless I am mistaken, I am pretty sure though. I'm going to check the plugs and will let you know. Thanks!

I've put 91 in all my performance cars (Highest octane in my state) There is no 93 around here.... 91 has always been fine

So I changed the oil today -- And it was weird cus the old oil didnt look too bad at all, and now it running fine -- The first few minutes after my Synthetic was put it in did it still, then maybe once the oil got to flush around a bit it cleaned it up... Cus no I have no problems!! Post closed, thanks whoever helped.

If it happens again open the hood and give a good tap on the MAP sensor. Many AP1 owners have had this problem and changed oil, spark plugs, MAP sensors etc. without getting rid of the problem until someone figured out the sensor just needed a good tap. Sounds stupid but it works!

Hey nice trick man, I appreciate that feedback alot. I went ahead and grabbed a rubber screwdriver and gave it a few good taps on top and on the side after unplugging it , then re-plugging it back in. I'll take it out for a cruise tonight and let you know what happens, thanks again -- big ups!
