No... Let me elaborate. In my AP1 when you hit 6K VTEC kicks in. Not only does the motor scream the car feels as if you’re getting boost from a turbo and you can feel yourself being pushed back in the seat. I have owned turbocharged cars so I know what it feels like when the boost kicks in. Of course in the S its nowhere near as strong but it’s the same kind of feeling. That’s what I was referring too.

I did let the car sit at idle yesterday through two fan cycles but VTEC in first gear is no good. Second and third it’s fine but in first the car just revs up with no audible or feel of the VTEC. It’s just not there and it frustrates me because it’s ONLY in first gear. That’s why I thought maybe an ECU reset might do the trick because if it was the solenoid or something mechanical I assume VTEC wouldn’t work in any gear.

Guess ill have to bring the car to the dealer which i do not look forward too at 120/hr. Even thought the car runs fine it bothers me the VTEC isnt right.

Well, there is nothing that makes VTEC gear dependent.

Have you done a map whack?

No. With the engine off, unplug the sensor and tap it with something. I like using a rubber-handled screw driver, and tapping it with the rubberized handle. Plug the connector back in, and use a zip tie to hold it on. I've seen some people put a dab of super glue on the zip tie as well. While you've got the sensor unplugged, use some contact cleaner on the plug and the sensors contacts.

The goal is to knock any dirt/debris particles loose.
