Default Wastgate on supercharger??

I know that this has been talked about numerous times, but has anyone done this yet???
I would really like to know your results and how exactly you did it (not really sure how these things work), cause i would like to get a 12 or 13 psi pulley and not have anymore than 8psi come through....until i upgrade internals and fuel anyway, so that I can produce more boost down low and be more consistant across the board.

I have not done it, but I have seen it done. The dyno results were impressive although many people (who had turbos) swore the parasitic losses would negate any advantage, but like I said the dyno looked great!

This was on a Miata so there are no comparisons.

The guy has since upgraded to a high boost turbo system because he wanted MORE POWER!

Is there anything special that I would need to know?
Or do I just need a wastegate, a smaller pulley and a competant mechanic/tuner?

You saw this done? Where who?

The parasitic losses are not going to be much worse (if any) then running standard 8 psi pulley. Once you are blowing the excess boost off, the load falls off quickly. Of course you will be boosting 8 psi for a larger chunk of revs, but the extra power will more then make up for the extra parasitic loss.

A turbo will still have less parasitic loss, but this would make a simple SC system a whole lot more effective for very little extra money.

As I said the guy has since gone to a high boost Turbo system 15+ psi.

The dyno proved the lie to parasitic losses getting the better of him.

I'm trying to do a little research on it, but at least in theory it should work.
I am probably going to try it, but it will be a little while....gotta save some money for a smaller pulley and the wastegate.
It seems as though it would be well worth it, should produce some nice power across the board.
