Smile Water Leak...

Hey guys I have had this problem for a while when I have water come into my car from heavy downpour in Miami.

My Passenger side for some apparent reason the carpet gets completely soaked and it seems like it comes from under the carpet because the top of my rubber floor mat is dry but the bottom is wet and also my seat is dry.
And today it rained pretty bad all morning and most of the afternoon and when I got into my car there was a giant puddle in my passenger side.

I have taken out the seat and looked under the floormat to spot the source awhile ago but to no avail.

Anyone know whats happening here????? I want to find the source of where the water is coming from

Does any water accumulate around your speaker grill? I had a water leak on the passenger side last year and I realized that the weatherstrip where the window meets the soft top needed to be replaced. If there isn't a tight seal water may trail down to your carpet.

Is it only after a downpour or could you have a clogged drain line for your AC? (Which in most cars, drips onto the passenger side carpet.)

I've seen something similar before, and it only really seemed to happen during heavy rain, or at least was most noticeable during heavy rain. The problem was that the drains for the top were blocked with debris, not completely blocked but just enough so that it couldn't drain quickly enough during bad downpours.
So during bad spells of rain both sides would fill and spill over onto the shelf above the fuel tank. Some of the water made it's way to the rear, partially filling the recesses where the upper strut bolts are, and some of it moved toward the front of the car, spilling off the shelf and down behind the seats and under tha carpet.
I would say take a look around the spare wheel next time you have heavy rain, pay particular attention to the top of the rear suspension as this seems to be where it accumulates. If it's completely dry you have at least eliminated this area as a source of the leak. If it's wet I think this could be the culprit.
If you're like me you've already taken out all the trunk lining, so it should be a quick check.

I am not sure of the placement of the cables on your LHD model (mines RHD JDM), but I had a similar issue. I had disturbed the the harness near the battery that goes through the bukhead and the large rubber gromet had popped out. This meant that during heavy rain the water ran down the outside of the bulkhead and into the car.
I used some silicone grease and pushed it back in and problem was solved.
This can happen if you take the battery out to charge it etc.

Fold down your top and look just behind the doors for the brushes. Shine a maglite or something in there and you'll seen a little drain hole on either side - this drain exits through a small tube just ahead of the rear tires.
