Default water sensor s2000 and civic type r

hi guys!! my mechanic found out why i have a CEL and its a busted watersensor thats why my temperature gauge is not reading correct.. but the thing is i have to order a s2000 watertemp and it will take 2 weeks to get it from japan. so for the mean time what my mechainc did was put a civic type r water sensor... he said that its the same thing........ what do you think of it do the civic type r and the s2000 really have the same water sesnor??? if not will i have any problem with it??? its a 1999 kodel civic type r ek9 water sensor.... he said the the CEL is gone and it will work as the same as the stock s2000 water sensor... is he right?? thanks!
