Default weird noice that sounds like its from the diff?

ok when ever i am slowing down i hear a loud whinning noise when i am in nuetral, i don't think its the clutch tsb like everyone else talks about because when i get even slower its turns into a knocking or clicking noise until i come to a stop. its sounds like its coming from the rear end. probably my diff. any ideas what it is? i have almost 25k miles i'm just hoping i just need to change my fluid.

Clicking is cv joints. Whining could be a bearing in the rear diff.
Get under the car and feel where the rear wheel axles connect
to the diff see if there is any fluid floating around, it should be dry if there is some fluid most likely one of your oil seals is shot and the bearing might be on its way out.

O.k. then folks, answer me this - what is a creaking noise from? I have a very unusual noise from the right rear. Only happens after driving for a few miles (car is warmed up then). Not a single noise, but rather a series of small creaks each wheel revolution (and only during a small part of the revolution). Noise has been getting worse. Can be eliminated temporarily by backing up, stopping, and then going forward again.

Only thing I can think of is axle, wheel bearing or brakes. The rear rotors are shot, and I'm going to tear them down ASAP, but I haven't been able to see anything yet.

sounds like wheel bearing to me UL. Could be brake pads too.

wheel bearing noise is typically a low groaning type noise, it gets louder as speed increases. I'm not sure if you would hear it going in reverse since your not upto speed for the noise to be noticeable.

Clicking is usually associated with the axle or cv-joint. I had a clicking in my right rear aswell. I believe there is a TSB for this. I believe they remove the axle nut repack bearing with grease and retorque the axle nut.

You can hear this noise best at low speeds. In fact, just creeping forward at under a mph is the best way to discern it. I'm hoping its brakes.
