Hello,
I have a 2005 model and notice when it's colder outside and I'm starting my car, it makes a weird noise. It sounds like something is scraping something else. I've taken it to the mechanic and they couldn't replicated the noise, but it's been going on for months now. I've taken my car into the shop and they said everything is fine. Just want to see if anyone else is having this problem.

 

It's your stater sticking. It's kind of normal, it won't harm anything. Just leave it alone.

 

My 04 does it as well, and I was wondering wtf it was. It doesn't do it every weekend, but it sounds horrible when it does. Good to know its fairly common and isn't a big problem!

 

My '03 started doing this recently. Happens most often after the car has sat for several days between starts.

 

Mine has been doing that for two years now, still works fine. I don't plan on replacing it until it goes out because it's expensive as hell to even get a reman. from Honda. O'Reilley's quoted me around $100 for an OEM reman with no core charge though
