Default Weird Noise When Starting From a Dead Stop

It's a 2002. Has a non-ac comptech s/c and act disc/flywheel/pressure plate. When I am starting in first gear the car starts to make a turkey-gobble sort of noise as I start to accelerate. The only remedy for this is to push the RPMs up higher when I start (3k). Is there a certain way I should be coming out in first gear? Is there any way that the clutch or a belt is slipping? It's driving me crazy.

Yeah, I can try. It seriously sounds like a turkey gobble. It sounds like something is slipping almost. I've been driving manual for the last 7 years so I don't think I'm slipping the clutch, but who knows? The ACT package has taken awhile to get used to.

I had an ACT clutch on my old b16\crx that made a "turkey gobble" sound. That would be my guess, a bit of slippage is required on any normal start from a stop.

Edit: Next time you drive you should intentionally slip the clutch even more than normal to verify if it is the clutch.

Thanks. I think it's probably the clutch, but it could be the s/c belt or the s/c making noise for all I know.
