Weird transmission behavior
Me and my buddy were out driving around last night, me in my s2000, and he in his dad's s2000. We were at a stop light and he wanted to drive "spiritedly, so he is going to launch and when he does he catches first gear and starts to move forward, but then he said when he went to second gear the revs went all the way up, probally cuz he was flooring it, but the car started to slow down like it was in neutral, so he shifted to 3rd and it still continued to slow. He then said he completely let off the gas and then he pulled over. When I saw this i turned around and pulled up behind him, and so we popped the hood and i right away noticed that the aroma of clutch was very prevelent, as well as when i was walking up to it. So we were talkinmg and he said it was like the gears werent catching, he said he was letting off the clutch, but the gears were just not catching. I was wondering if anyone else has had anything similar happen while tying to launch. Also we were wondering if anything similar has happened if any significant damage cam come of this. I told him to take it to honda and have the transmission checked, but other than that since i havent had anything like that happen to me before I wouldn't have any idea what to do. Any advise or explaination of what might have happened would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and i dont know if it matters, but his is a 2004 i believe and he said he was trying to "shift really fast." He wanted me to make sure that was in the post. Thanks in advance.
