Isn't this something you only really do for drag racing purposes, not that beneficial for daily driving ?.

The thing about it is, if you need to weld the diff, you're welding the wrong diff. The pinion is made of candy cane on this car.

I have 2 diffs. will only be using this one a few times a year at most.

Is there any other Diffs that are direct fit that can be welded easier? i read something earlier about a kia diff?

Basically stock engine wise bar dms manifold de cat and pipe and k&n fipk.
bc coilovers and camber adjustment.

having a play at drifting really. nothing serious else i would have.bought an s14.

The diff will probably die very quickly, welded or not. The stock diff can only take so many hard shock loads and the pinion shatters. Having it solid will make it die quicker.

The Kia 4.77 ring and pinion are interchangeable, but the differentials themselves are not interchangeable.

You will need a different differential for drifting. The stock diff is awful for it.

I don't understand why you'd need to weld it in the first place? Maybe if you had a 240sx with a open diff or whatever, but I can get the car to rotate quite easily when I want to.
