What’s in my oil?
So I changed the oil in my 2002 and found pieces of this yellow stuff in my drain pan. It’s definitely not copper color but bright yellow. Also definitely not metal but more of a brittle sharp plastic. A couple of the pieces are pretty good size. Did some searching but couldn’t really find anything unless it’s metal or copper color. Car runs fine, no issues at all. Any help is appreciated.

Would have to see the color to know if its the chain guides or not. They are more clear/orange oil stained.
Drop something in the oil fill at some point in cars history? Maybe the lower secure ring off an oil bottle cap. Hard to say, especially without pictures.

Timing chain guides was my first thought as well. Second thought was what tct is installed? Is it stock, or aftermarket?
Even if its stock, people have disassembled and modified them to try and cure a design flaw, to get more life out of them.
Either way, modified stock or aftermarket, mabe yours is applying too much tension to the guide, and chain is chewing it up. That would be bad for way more reasons than just the tensioner getting chewed up...

Tensioner is stock. I'm not sure if it's been modified or if the worm gear has been sandblasted. My guess is not as I bought from original owner who was a middle aged woman. Absolutely everything on the car is unmodified and stock.
