Default What is this ?

Hi everyone
I'm new to the forum and to the s2k as well. I fell in love with the car after driving it and I recently decided to add it to my car collection. I been having some problems with it recently, I was driving the car one day and my CEL started flashing!! but it would randomly go away and the car would drive normal!! I looked up the code and I received general misfire P1399 and P0411 some fuel injection bs, so i decided to change the spark plugs in hopes to fixing the misfire but i had no luck, So I decided to do some research, after reading the forums everyone said it could be a vacuum leak or clogged injectors. I decided to get my injectors cleaned out and after reinstalling them I had no luck the CEL came back flashing randomly once again. So I decided to check for vacuum leaks and I found two hoses going nowhere and they are coming out of some weird part I'm not familiar with, can somebody enlighten me ?

Those are normally connected to a little box on the main airfilter housing

Yep, looks like the vacuum lines for the secondary air control solenoid. The black box in your picture is a vacuum reservoir, the white part on the hose is a vacuum check valve. I had issues with the other end of those vacuum lines a while ago. They come off the hard lines quite easily.
When the check engine light is flashing, the engine is currently misfiring. Try to pay attention and see if there's a pattern to when it misfires. It could help with diagnosis.

Check back in a few hours I'll go identify and trace them and try to tell you where to plug each

Secondary air injection system would not cause your car to misfire. P0411 deals with the secondary air inection system, there's plenty of hose diagrams on this site for that system. The misfire is not related and is a different issue in itself.

Agree. Secondary air injection is used by the car to maintain stoichometry (14.7:1 air /fuel ratio) during engine warm up. The air pump is emission related. That said one of your hoses has the little white check valve frequently related to the P0411 code (usually because it is backwards).

Utah

P.S. A flashing CEL is a major. Stop the car and tow to prevent major damage.
