Default What Am I Doing Wrong!!

hey everybody. recently i went to the track with just an injen cold air intake and ran consistent 14.411. then about 2 weeks ago i added the 6lb titanium jic single exhaust and the toda racing header. i mean, i did feel a difference with them two installed. on the freeway, the car pulled harder and it just had a different feel. then yesterday i figured let me see if i can do any better at the track. the temp was like 80 degrees and it was pretty humid here in jersey. but that wasnt the case. i couldnt pull a better time than 14.411. instead the whole night my best time was 14.444. i mean, even if it was jus shavin off hundreths of a second, how come the header and exhaust didnt help last night? do i need to disconnect the batter or the fuse box for them to adapt to the settings? thanks

I don't know how much more you expected from your exhaust. if you're lucky you are gaining about 5 or 6 hp no more. dual catbacks get about 4 to 5 more that's it. The header etc and exhaust that hondas come with is a very good flowing exhaust system to begin with...so your gain is just a little in hp and a little less weight

but every little bit helps

Yeah adding a header and exhaust wont add much power and so at the track it wont translate into much better times. I also find that this car is hard to launch and get consistant times at the track so I find it hard to compare before and after mods.

Could it be tire pressure or the amount of gas u had in the car?

A dyno run would prove gains rather than track times. As Reignman stated, launching on this car is really inconsistant. Just my pennies.

You lost me with that statement, so I'll say maybe the weather conditions were differant from your previous runs. Try again on a cooler/less humid nite, I bet you'll do better.

actually i didnt lower the tire pressure and i had like 2 bars on the car when i hit the track. yeah i know, launching on this car is hard. everytime i launched, i would sit there spinning the tires, no traction at all. i will go back on a much cooler night and see if i do better. cuz it was hot as hell when i went the other night and so humid outside! i was sweatin my ass off. but now the question, how do i reset the ECU?? thanks

Instead of comparing 1/4 mile time, try looking at the trap speed. There are just way too many variables from day to day at a drag strip. 0.03 seconds is insignificant. Now, if you consistantly finished with higher trap speed (2 - 3 MPH), that means the car gained more HP.

Look at the fuses under your dash on the drivers side. On the left side one fuse down from the top there should be a 7.5. Pull that out for 10 seconds and then put it back in the same way you took it out.
