honda606, do you think the pcx filter will be better than the k&n(hp-1004)? i am currently using the hp-1004 and its working great. the car feels better now than when i had the old oem filter(made by filtech) installed. it could be mental though.

I tend to support the new PCX filter approach - flow rate, PSI rating of the bypass valve, etc. are very important.

Since:

1) There is no published spec data from Honda for those parameters
and
2) No published spec data from the aftermarket mfr's.

I prefer not to "roll the dice" on an expensive engine and will use the OEM's until 1 and 2 are known to me.

Razor: I find it very hard to believe that an oil filter will result in a noticeable change in engine performance - most likely Placebo Effect.

road rage, how about if you use an oil filter that offers much higher oil pressure? woudn't you feel an increase(not much though) in power since the engine has more oil pressure to work with?

im just asking out of curiosity.

I'd say stick with the K&N if everything feels good with it.

Here are a few links that you'll may find interesting.

If I could find something close in quality and performance for less money and easy to get I would buy it. I would use the PureOne but the nearest place to get one is 15-20 mins away (Autozone is about 2 minutes away).
I bought a bunch of M1-105's on the board since they are highly recommended and the seller did a great job passing on the savings from Kmart inventory liquidation.

Although the first one was no problem I took the experiences of those that had them back off (probably a vibration issue) to heart. I put each one on the drill press and put a tiny hole through the edge for a safety wire.

Will probably go to the new S2000 specific filter when these are gone, but I have no problem with the 105's if someone is selling them cheap.

I just did a pure 1 and JDM pcx comparison. The diameters were essentially identical. The o-rings are both excellent, the silicone ab valves was slightly better "appearing" in the jdm.

I compared a spec fram and it was much smaller in diameter, cheap gasket, poorly attached, and crap valve. No contest.
