Default What is the electronic box behind the left front fender?

I wrecked my '03 S2k. I have it in a friends shop, and we are trying to fix it. The left front fender was ripped off in the accident and there is some wiring which appears to go to some kind of electronic box. All that's left is some kind of magnetic switch hanging on the wires. We took off the right front fender to get a clue, but the windshield washer fluid is over there, so no help.

Anyone know what I need to replace here?

Nothing goes there, at least not on LHD cars. The wire you see goes to that little button that pokes through the front of the door jamb. Go open the passenger side. There's the same button there. Not sure what it does. Maybe "door ajar" detector?

Well there was remnants of a PCB board. The wiring going into the door comes in from under the dash. There is nothing on the other side that looks anything like this.

Thanks! I'll check into that.

yea thats the box for the air injection system, you need that unless you have the fix to get rid of it, mine somehow got water in it at one point and almost started on fire, luckily there were battery issues(caused by that draining my battery all the time) and i saw the smoke coming out of the fender when i walked into the garage

ELD unit. (electrical load detector) for air pump.

Get an izzy engineering air pump bypass kit, and you can eliminate it. Seems you may have broken the air pump, this kit will by pass both.

Good to know! I've also wondered what this funny box was, but never got around to getting an answer.

Here is a shot of the airpump..I think this is it anyway.

I think it's fine. Does something clip on to the 2 locations I have arrows pointing to?

Do you have a link to where I can buy the izzy engineering air pump bypass kit? Google isn't bringing anything up except links to s2ki.

The shop owner got word of an s2k at a local junkyard and is going to go check on it tomorrow. We may be able to get the ELD unit and a few other miscellaneous items that we need for cheap.

I wish you were working on my car Billman!

I didn't have anything clipped onto my air pump at the locations that you marked. I used one of those tabs to mount the relay for my water pump for my Comptech aftercooler.
