Default What fluids to change?

So I just got my first S2000 and I want to make it as close to new as I can(it has almost 70k). So im going to start with fluids, im changing my oil tomorrow, but what other fluids should I change? Should I change the differential fluid by now? And also what viscosity oil should I use, im in Chicago where it gets really cold and im going to use mobil1 synthetic.

even if you got a carfax of what previous owener has done, i would always change the engine, tranny, differential, brake, and clutch fluids. i've been using 5w30 which is working fine for the weather we're currently having here in dallas which is around 40-50 degrees. either that or a 0w30.

10w-30 oil. Amsoil 75w-110 for the diff. Honda MTF for the tranny.

Ok thanks, are tranny, differential and clutch fluids something you can do easily yourself or is it complex and requires special tools?

They are all pretty easy to change. I would recommend buying a fluid pump for refilling the tranny and diff and a bleeding kit for the clutch fluid. It's a good idea to buy new crush washers for the tranny and diff bolts and you'll need a 23 or 24mm wrench for the diff fill bolt.

Oil, Transmission, Brake, Clutch, and Differential fluids are all things you should consider inspecting and replacing.

Only special tools needed are big wrenches for the diff (as mentioned above)
And a hose in a soda bottle to bleed the clucth and brakes works wonderful.
For the tranny and diff you will also need a fluid pump that screws on top of the quarts in order to pump the new fluid back in.

You will want a filter wrench for the oil filter, they need to go on fairly tight.

The clutch is incredibly easy. If you look on the clutch slave, there is a bleeder screw. Fill the resivior to the top, and open the screw. It will come out a little fast, so just make sure the reservior is full the whole time. Then, after a bottle or so of brake fluid, close the screw, and top off the reservior if necessary. Do the same for the brakes, open all the bleeder screw and fill the reservior to the tippy top. Diff and Trans are very self explanitory, and just use the owners manual to tell you all the fluids. It also explains the radiator flush well, however, all I did was focus on the one screw at the bottom of the radiator. Make sure to use Honda antifreeze type 2. Good luck!

Clutch fluid:

To start, empty the mater with a turkey baster.

Using small pieces of paper towel, clean out the master till its spotless. (no amount of flushing will remove the black sludge you will find)

Fill it back up with brake fluid.

IF YOU LIKE, you can bleed a little off while the car is on jackstands for the other fluids. Just dont let it run low and suck air its a bitch to bleed.

For the dif, i put a 16" 1/2 ID clear hose on top of the gear oil bottle, and squeeze it right into the dif. clean and fast.

For the trans, i put the gear oil pointed cap on the trans bottle and squeeze it right in. clean and fast. nothing left to clean up.

Should have been changed a couple of times by 70K if you're going by Honda's schedule. I change every 15K.
