Default What size is the bolt that the oil filter

Hey guys, does anyone know what size the bolt that holds on the oil filter is? I have 32 an 36mm sockets at my house and I know that it is in between those two because the 32 is too small and the 36 is too big. Anyone know what size it is? I tried to search, but I don't know what that bolt is called. Thanks.

Are you talking about a K&N oil filter with a bolt on the end or something???

I think you can use a 17mm socket on the OEM Honda cap wrench...

If it's a K&N oil filter the "bolt" size is 1 inch.

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. I'm talking about the bolt that comes out of the block and holds the stock oil cooler and the oil filter screws into. I want to remove the stock oil cooler, but I need to know what size that bolt is. Do you understand which one I am talking about now? Thanks

I measured the one I have out back the shop on the stand and get 30mm ( actually it comes out to 29.8mm on my verniers )

Not sure if they have used different sizes through out the years , but you say that your 32mm does not fit??

Yeah, my 32mm socket doesn't fit over the bolt. It is really strange because I read in another thread that it was 27mm . I found in the service manual that it is called an "engine oil cooler center bolt," but it doesn't say what size the bolt is. This is frustrating.

Could it be the depth of you socket?

I have 4 more motors here but they have been stripped down . All the bits have been put into separate crates . I will pull them down tomorrow and check to see if they are different .

Twiztid, I just went to the store and bought a new 32mm socket because it looked bigger then mine for whatever reason. Turns out that the new one worked fine, but my old deep socket is too small . Doesn't make any sense, but thats the way things go some times. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. For anyones future reference the oil cooler center bolt is 32mm. Thanks.

For future reference, the correct socket is a 30mm one, not a 32mm socket like the OP suggests. A 32mm socket worked for me but it was very loose, wish I had just measured before trusting this thread and buying a socket.
