Default What's up with this oil filter?

Asked my friend who works at Honda to pickup an oil filter for me and I told him to specifically ask for the PCX filter. The parts dept couldn't find it in the system and said that the 15400-PLM-A02 was the right filter for our car. I was under the impression that the PCX filter was specifically made for our car and was of higher quality. Is the parts dept clueless or am I missing something here? If this filter is inferior, I really don't want to use it especially since I see its manufactured by FRAM.

Your friend gave you the wrong filter. Part #15400-PLM-A02 is for Civics, Accords, etc. and is much smaller than the correct S2000 filter.

The correct filter for the S2000 is part #15400-PCX-004. I still have an old S2000 filter that was used before the PCX filter was released and its part # is 15400-POH-305.

the sad thing is that most dealerships are not aware of the PCX filter. i basically had to school the parts guys at the honda dealership i work at. they wouldn't believe that honda made a s2000-specific filter and that the PLM filter is not appropriate for the f20c/f22c.

what i really hate is that i gave my friend the specific part number for the PCX filter and these fools at the parts dept insisted that the part no longer exists and that the PLM filter is the right one for the S2000. thanks for the link twohoos! very good information there. i have no idea why it didnt show up when i tried to search...

Fools indeed. They probably never even looked it up or don't care since they don't have any in stock and can't be bothered to make an effort.
