I am going looking to buy replacement wheel bearings and there is a huge range of prices as seen here.

Anyone know if there is any difference in quality among these?

Timken I've heard is the preferred bearing for many applications. Yukon Gear & Axle recommends Timken bearings for all new final drive installations. I can't comment on the other one, however.

 

I have not used the Timken S2000 bearings, but I have used them in a few other cars and never had a problem with their quality.

 

Timken is a very reputable manufacturer of bearings. They're very good quality. NNK is what Honda largely uses and they're of similar quality

 

Can't figure out why one Timken is $57 and the other is $17:

Looks like the 510050 is even cheaper HERE ($15, free shipping over $50).

The Timken guide spec's the $57 one HERE (see p243)

I wrote Timken, will revert when I get a response.

BTW - NSK is OEM on this and can be found for online for $47 ($10 cheaper than Majestic Honda).

The 510050 is an ABS wheel bearing with the ABS encoder built into the rubber seal. While the 510039 is a non-ABS wheel bearing. Just a side note; make sure when you install the 510050 into the knuckle, to install it with the black rubber seal facing outboard and steel shield inboard to correctly position the ABS encoder side of the bearing for the sensor to pick up. It is also advised that an old outer race is used to press in the new bearing to not damage the rubber seal. Please let me know if you have any further questions/concerns. Not sure how the abs "encoder" is built into a rubber seal -- on the hub there is the abs ring (looks like a gear) and then the magnetic pickup (the wheel speed sensor).

 

I just install a new wheel bearing and hub on my driver side rear, the noise that is was making before is gone, but now, each time im on the throttle i can feel a slight vibration Any ideas why???

 

Are you lowered? When does the vibration start? MPH? RPM?

 

yes on Megan racing street coilovers. Its happens in every gear, starts maybe around 3k
