Where is the plug to scan for CEL's

Where is the plug to scan for CEL's
So firstly, the search function is down. I tried searching but was unable to find my answer.
So, I have a check engine light and I want to see what is wrong. So I went to Auto zone and the guy there was not able to find the plug/port to pull the code. I looked myself under the drivers and passenger side footwell and I can not find it.
So, can someone please tell me where it is or if there is something I am missing. Thanks
