Default Where to plug in to read codes?

I understand that Autozone can read the engine codes when the check engine light is on.

Where do I plug the machine in? Does anyone have a pic of where under the dash I do this?

thanks

it's a tough reach. sitting in the seat facing forward use your right hand and feel just under the trim on the right side. after a few times it's easy to plug in an ob2 scanner...

Is this on the drivers side?

Also, if I go to autozone and just check to see what the codes are, does that clear the light? (I actually don't want it to so I can take it to dealership afterwards and have them see light is on)

Yes on the drivers side behind the trim piece next to the radio, near where your calf would be while driving. If you plug in to read codes as long as you dont reset the light you will be ok so the dealer can also read them.

Can you further explain what resetting the light means and how to avoid it?

Argh, turns out autozone no longer offers a free service to check the engine light. it's $59.95 now
