I was going to say fuel pump, until I read that the engine wont turn when pushing starter button sometimes in the morning - if im understanding correctly. This would be two different sounding issues, then engine just dying wile driving but still getting voltage/dash lights.
The main relay under dash (Forget designation AGC?) which controls fuel pump power might be it. May be possible that this is going bad and starting to ark or corrode inside creating symptoms of intermittent failure, rather then just 100% failed. There is also 2 clutch switches, if you have messed with these, make sure they are getting a complete circuit connection/loop.

The confusing part (to me) is the starter motor won't spin.
I had a different car that died like this one weekend. Felt just like hitting the rev limiter. BUT I could crank the car and while it wouldn't start right away it did spin. After a few minutes it would start and run. Then die down the road an hour later. Was frayed/melted wiring at the fuel pump. New fuel pump fixed it.

Your battery is dead.
Read that again, because I'm not the first person in this thread to point this out.
The other guy even gave you a chart to show why. A normal battery is 12.6V. Your 12.4V means your battery is not holding a charge.
This of course only explains one of your symptoms.
I will cast my vote on the other issue, based on the very limited info in this thread, as crank or possibly cam position sensor. They can fail in an intermittent way, work sometimes, fail other times, but quickly work again seconds later. They would cause the highway symptom you describe.
Of course, testing them will only reveal they are fine, unless you test them at the moment of failure, which will be kinda difficult since you only have a few seconds that failure mode occurs, and at highway speed.
So your only way to rule them out is replace them.

I will get a new battery tonight and update. But at the same time it should have enough juice to click the starter solenoid. I'm also going to see if I am getting power to the starter. I honestly don't believe I am. We will see tonight.

Maybe its the alternator. Weak batt maybe be a symptom of that. Take the car to an auto parts store and have them hook up their full charging system and see what it spits out. Its an easy thing to do.

true. I do have a scan tool and it puts out the right volts. Will have to try that just for piece of mind also.
