I was looking at someone else's Engine compartment and noticed a white residue/powder on the ???.

(Not quite sure what to call the location. From the dipstick it's a white plastic cap about 4 inches over towards the driver's side and 3 inches toward the rear of the car. My only, probably clueless, guess is the injectors)

Can anyone help identify the 'cap' and the residue?

I don't know what the cap is, but I think the white residue is something they spray on at the factory to check for leaks. I found the same residue in several places under my hood.

Actually its a fuel pulse damper. The FPR is right next to it, I thought the white powder was one of those marks they put on it to see if you messed with it . . .
