hey people..
i just bought a used 05 ... and i noticed as i was kinda wiping down the engine bay i noticed a white powdery substance just behind the engine.. it is all over the firewall and just above the tranny..i can wipe it off easily too.. i was suspecting a leak from the headers since there is like a black burnmark just to the upper side of it..pls help

 

Fire extinguisher powder? I have seen white oxidation on the valve cover before and white from boiled coolant.

Sell it don't smell it.

 

Could you take some pics to show us exactly where the burn mark is and everything?

 

Based on your vague description I'd guess there was a fire in the engine bay and an extinguisher was used.

But if the car was imported from Colombia I don't know what that white powder might be .

ive been asking a couple of people what it is.. they said that its not anything from the engine.. but im still worried about what it is.. i think the last owner sprayed some cleaner or something..oil is full...coolant is full and some more coolant n the resevoiar..
but pls i need advice

Maybe that stuff they buff the car with before they sell it? Or remnants of engine degreaser that didn't get sprayed off?
