I would suggest to keep loose all bolts and line up the brace before tight them up.
That's what I was doing..

i tried jacking up on all 4 stands. i tried left side only. i tried right side only. i tried front only. i tried screwing in bolts every way possible.

maybe a lift would work best?

for my car, there was no way 4 bolts were going in properly without drilling the brace 1.5mm.
Dd you just drill one of the holes or 2.. or 4?

Had the same issue with last bolt not lining up........ but i was trying to use different bolts instead of the supplied hardware (why? b/c i hate allen key bolts)... Gave up trying to use different hardware and used the supplied hardware and the xbrace bolted up no problem. I also didnt jack up the car i drove it up ramps to have body nice and straight

drill the hole and make it bigger. i had the same problem
worst advice ever.

the hole doesn't line up because of the chassis flex, you have to get creative with how you jack up the car.

it's mean to be tight and exact fit because if you enlarge the holes you are defending the purpose of the x brace, now your piece is just going to shift around instead of providing support.

installed number of x brace myself including my own muz brace and they are all tight fit.

if the OP can install without drilling, then that's great.

to avoid chassis flex, what are other ways to jack up the car besides right side, left side, both sides, and front?

This is the best way.

By the way, thats my red S in the process of replacing the Greddy with the Mugen exhaust.

I got the x-brace installed. I just drilled 2 of the holes. Drilling was CAKE. 1/2 drill bit did it in less than 15 seconds for each hole.

why? the are meant to be exact and tight because it's the only way they function, if you enlarge the holes, the tension from the bolt will not able to against the chassis flex.

you now have a piece of aluminum brace that shift around in the underbody instead of strengthen it.

it's a trail and error, the chassis flex is more noticeable on the older car(natural with age and mileage), i putted them on with front lifted, i putted them on with all four wheel off the ground, it's really depends and it could be time consuming, if you can't do it have a shop put it on a lift.
