To adjust the height loosen the perch lock on the very bottom and move the perch up and down as you desire (perch down= lower height, perch up= more height). Tighten the perch lock once you reached the desired height. To adjust spring load, loosen the perch locks that the springs are seated on (2 rings or locks), then move up to increase the load on the springs and move down to decrease. Tighten the perch locks once you get the desired load. To adjust the dampening, just use the hex key knob and turn as you wish, I'm not familiar with the BC dampening settings so I'll leave that to someone who knows to chime in. Hope that helps.

To prevent the suspension from riding on the bumpstops if it hasn't been pre-loaded yet.

Pardon my ignorance, but could someone explain what exactly "pre-loading" is? Thanks.

Basically, to put load on the springs to acquire your desired compression/rebound travel. Coil-overs that aren't pre-loaded may be sitting on bumpstops(bumper things to prevent the suspension from bottoming out) when you drop your car or drive around with them. That may feel very bouncy and uncomfortable.
