Why Change to Synthetic?

Personally I'd rather have better protection, but to each his own.
not if your engine clearances aren't designed for thick oil. You can damage or have increase wear if you run thicker oil than what the mfg recommends.

i run synthetic, cause i have too many cars to drive many miles on any of them...
with synthetic i can wait a lot longer to change the oil than with dino oil. if i ran dino oil, i would be changing oil all the time! (every 3 months on each car, and none of them would have many miles).
so for someone with a low mileage car, its nice not to have to change very often.

Of course never run what the manufacturer doesn't recommend. But most recommend 5W-xx for best mileage and 10W-xx or 20W-xx for warmer weather. 0W-xx is a
